Dr. Martin Luther King once said, “Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power; we have guided missiles but misguided men.” For more than half a decade, Mentoring to Manhood has been working to guide young men into their purpose and greatness.

We have been successful because we view our young men as gifts waiting to be given rather than problems waiting to be solved. Our belief in them is only the beginning. The ultimate goal, however, is to help them discover that the power to achieve excellence springs from their own hands and incredible minds.

Every year presents a new beginning and a new opportunity for another breakthrough.

Our young men our growing by leaps and bounds in belief, behavior, and bravery as they confront the daily myriad of challenges that surround them.   Some of the terrific outcomes from this past year include:

  • 100% of our boys reported that they “agree” or “strongly agree” that M2M has “made me want to try harder in school” and “helped me learn how to make better decisions”.
  • 70% of parents recognized positive growth in their boys (academically, personally or both) and also reported increased clarity on their (boys) career aspirations.
  • Academic improvement was demonstrated by an average 10.33 point increase in English grades, a 13.75 point increase in Biology, and a 10 point increase in History!

This is why we show up every Saturday to mentor and tutor these young men. But our task is not just about turning problems into possibilities. We know that when we invest in young men we are investing in the future of this nation. And while we are blessed to have served over 200 boys in the last six years, we are clear that there are many more waiting for a helping hand and hope for the future.

But we could not do this work without strong partnerships and the help of the community, parents and volunteers who care and love these young men and are helping us guide them into their greatness.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to another successful year.
